Narcotics detectives seize 45 marijuana plants from home in Van Buren County

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit helped in the war against drugs Friday with the aid of the Michigan Air National Guard.

A helicopter flew over a home at 38039 20th Avenue, in Bloomingdale, and spotted several marijuana plants growing on the property.

Van Buren County Narcotics detectives went to the home and talked to a 46-year-old woman living there.

After speaking to her and seeing the pot plants, detectives got a search warrant.

Thirty-one marijuana plants were seized growing outside, on the property.

They then searched the home and found 10 marijuana plants along with lighting equipment in the bathroom.

There were 14 marijuana plants seized, along with a small amount of user marijuana.

They also searched the barn and found supplies used to manufacture meth.

Police called Children Protective Services to collect a small child found at the home.

The woman and a 40-year-old man living at the home may face criminal charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of meth components.

The investigation is ongoing.
