National Weather Service confirms EF-1 tornado touched down in St. Joseph County

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in St. Joseph County at Osborne and Gumwood Roads early Monday morning.

The tornado touched down northwest of the intersection of Osborne and Gumwood roads where trees were uprooted at 2:07 a.m.

After crossing Gumwood Road, the storm removed a portion of a barn roof and scattered debris to the north.

Just east of this area, a grove of pine trees were snapped.

The tornado dissipated before crossing Fir Road at 2:09 a.m.

The tornado's wind speed reached up to 100 m.p.h. at its peak.

It traveled one mile and was 100 yards wide.
