ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.--- People living in Castle Point Apartments are expressing their concerns after a 10 year old girl was shot in the face over the weekend. According to the girl's aunt she is recovering well at Riley Hospital.
"A bunch of cops and a fire truck pulled in behind me and so I stopped and I wait and the next thing I know there were maybe 15 people outside and they were putting a little girl in an ambulance," said a neighbor who witnessed the aftermath of the shooting.
Sunday night's shooting came just three and half months since a man was stabbed at Castle Point back in March.
"I don’t come outside when it’s dark unless I have my dog or someone with me," said the neighbor. "I’ll fake a phone call, walk with my keys in between my fingers, I have to do all that stuff because I don’t really feel that safe."
People living in Castle Point also say property management doesn't do much to address the issues there. ABC57 reached out to management at Castle Point but have not received a response.
Some in the neighborhood say they won't renew their lease because of the violence.
"I definitely don’t feel like this is the spot for me as a small, young girl," said a neighbor. "I definitely don’t feel safe living by myself."
