SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Neighbors are remembering 30 year old, Ashley Starr. The South Bend woman was found stabbed to death in her house Sunday morning.
Josephina Guzman, Starr’s neighbor, was driving home when she saw the crime scene around Starr’s house. She says she still remembers the first interaction she had with Starr.
“I was shoveling snow and she passed by and we started talking,” said Guzman. “To me she seemed like a nice person because she cared about getting to know me.”
Guzman said she’d only met Starr twice, but Starr that was enough to make an impact on her life.
“I only got to talk to her two times but coming to me to get to know me really told me that she’s a nice person,” said Guzman.
Guzman said that Starr was looking forward to seeing her around the neighborhood when the weather warmed up.
“I thought, ‘Summer’s coming and I’ll get to see her around!’ but it didn’t come,” said Guzman.
Guzman says her heart goes out to Starr’s family and she’s praying for them in their time of grief.
“Even if I don’t know them, I want to tell them that I feel sorry for their loss and they had a really nice daughter,” said Guzman.
