New details on investigation into clergy sex abuse at Notre Dame

ABC 57

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ABC57 learned new details Tuesday regarding the investigation into clergy sex abuse at Notre Dame.

Another graduate has come forward demanding accountability and transparency from the university.

Notre Dame recently launched an external investigation a week ago into allegations against Father Thomas King, who was the rector of Zahm Hall from 1980 to 1997.

Several male students have come forward with claims of sexual abuse against King, who also taught history at Holy Cross College.

On Tuesday, 2006 Notre Dame graduate William Kurtz wrote a letter to the editor of the student newspaper called "The Observer".

In it, Kurtz blasted the university for its public statement offering alleged victims a chance to be "heard," saying in part, "the opportunity 'to be heard' is the bare minimum requirement for any investigation and is woefully insufficient given the gravity of the crimes committed. Victims do not need the university to grant them a platform to speak; they need the university to provide accountability, justice, and compensation."
