ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—The National New York Central Railroad Museum in Elkhart is getting in the Halloween spirit every weekend throughout October.
“This is the second year we’ve been doing this, we were trying to come up with an idea to be more festive and bring in more people into the draw,” National New York Central Railroad Museum Curator, Matt Hughey said.
The whole experience plays off as if guests are boarded on the haunted train. The theme this year is Trainsylvania Dining Express. Using an empty railcar at the museum, the staff has given the passenger train a haunted makeover for the spooky season.
The attraction is divided into three sections, featuring scary monsters and spooky sound effects that will surely keep you on your toes.
“This is our second weekend for doing this month, a lot of people really enjoy, some of the little ones think it’s a little scary, some people say oh it's fun. A little boy just said he got so scared he lost his mask, luckily his dad went back to get it back,” Hughey said.
The haunted railcar experience is available for all ages at the Museum every weekend. More information and dates can be found here.
On Halloween, the museum is doing a trick-or-treat special where they'll have pre-packaged treats for guests.
