New York senator asks airlines for family seating

NEW YORK -- The busy summer travel season kicks off this week and New York Sen. Charles Schumer is asking airlines to allow families to sit together without having to pay extra fees.

His office says over the past year, airlines have started to charge as much as $59 a flight for window or aisle seats.

Schumer says families who can't or don't pay it may have to be separated and a child should not end up next to a stranger.
