Nineteen year old killed in crash while fleeing from police Tuesday night

ABC 57 SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A late night single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Jacob Daniel Hoggatt on Tuesday night, and now police are confirming the crash happened during a chase.
South Bend police say they received a call of shots fired around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night and responded to the area in the 700 block of S, Michigan.
The Fatal Crash Team (FACT) was activated to investigate and is currently still doing so.
"Officers located a suspected vehicle and initiated a traffic stop," the FACT said. "After initially stopping, the vehicle fled westbound on Western Avenue and crashed at the intersection of Western and Walnut. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased."
Authorities say Hoggatt was of La Porte.
