EAST LANSING, Mich. – Players, coaches, and fans alike are hyped for the 79th battle between Notre Dame and Michigan State.
The two teams first met 120 years ago and there have been some very memorable games over the years.
The tie in 1966, the double OT thriller, and more recently, the little giants play and the pass interference game just to name a few.
Fans could not be more excited.
A family of 15 made their way down from Canada to cheer on the Irish.
"For me it started in 1988. Sports Illustrated. It had Rocket Man on the cover and I was hooked ever since. Haven't missed a game watching or listening since then. It’s always good doing these things with family. Giving kids the experience of collegiate life I suppose. And see a football game,” said Matthew Reynolds, Irish Fan from Ontario, Canada.
Now fans will have to wait nearly another decade before seeing these two teams play again.
Notre Dame and Michigan State don't meet up again until 2026.
The game starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at Spartan Stadium.
