LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A La Porte resident is dead after crashing into a semi tractor trailer combination.

At 12:46am officers responded to the area of US 20 and Michigan Street for a crash involving a passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

After further investigation a gold 1995 Nissan passenger vehicle driven by 48-year-old Clemie B. Chapman drove left of the center and collided with a purple 2000 Kenworth semi tractor /trailer. 

The gold Nissan crashed into the rear axle on the semi-tractor and then the trailer.  

Chapman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The CMV was driven by 30-year-old Pawel Glista, who was uninjured.
