Community Build underway at Kathryn Park
SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Friday marks one month since a tornado tracked through Bourbon on April 2.
The tornado initially touched down just south of Rutland and tracked northeast toward Bourbon, remaining on the ground for 17.9 miles. With peak winds reaching up to 105 mph, it caused significant destruction—particularly in a neighborhood within Bourbon where several homes sustained extensive damage. Debris was scattered across fields, and numerous trees and power lines were brought down.
As the tornado exited Bourbon, it continued to cause tree and powerline damage into Kosciusko County, where its path of destruction eventually ended.
Now, one month later, signs of the storm's impact remain clearly visible. The hardest-hit subdivision in Bourbon shows little progress in terms of recovery, with many homes still bearing roof and structural damage.
For a deeper look into the storm’s aftermath and the community’s ongoing recovery, tune in to ABC57 News.
