Over 11,000 pounds of chicken were donated to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana Monday morning thanks to Miller Poultry and Martin's Super Markets.
The donation will add up to about 11,000 meals for community members this holiday season.
Chicken is an essential source of protein and is often difficult to find at most food pantries.
"This is a way that we can support the community back by giving to those in need and, and all of us are, you know, are based in this community, not only companies but even individuals," said Joel Shephard, Sales Manager of Miller Poultry. "So it makes it even more special for us to be able to do something like this in this area."
The food bank is located at 702 Chapin St. in South Bend.
