Over 5,000 residents in Elkhart and St. Joseph counties still without power

Indiana Michigan Power has more than 5,000 residents in Elkhart, La Porte and St. Joseph Counties without power because of the winter storm.

Power is expected to be restored by 3 p.m. Monday.

I&M is providing updates to its customers through its mobile app, website and through their 24/7 customer operations center at 800-311-4634.

The storm caused over a dozen broken or damaged poles and trees an limbs often needed to be trimmed before restoration could continue.
