Parking lot shooting a murder-suicide, CMHU closes case

The shooting in the parking lot of a bar on Chippewa Street in St. Joseph County early Sunday morning was a murder-suicide, according to investigators with the County Metro Homicide Unit.
According to investigators, 21-year-old Devin Johnson shot and killed 22-year-old Tyler Layton, shot an 18-year-old woman, then shot himself.
The female victim that survived was Tyler's girlfriend.
Johnson died at the hospital Monday night.
The investigation revealed, Devon and Tyler were supposed to have a fist fight about a different female. They were not supposed to use weapons.
