Passenger arrested for strangling driver and taking phone
Marshall County Sheriff\'s Office MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- During a routine patrol Saturday, Jan. 17, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office says deputies found a vehicle where the passenger had attempted to strangle the driver and kept her from calling for help.
Around 5:32 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, Marshall County deputies discovered a vehicle during their routine patrol and spoke with the occupants.
During the conversation, the deputies allegedly found that the vehicle's passenger, 35-year-old Lemeris Anton Woodward, had attempted to strangle the driver, also taking her phone to keep her from calling for help.
Additionally, the deputies say the vehicle smelled of marijuana, so they searched it, finding roughly 344 grams of marijuana.
Woodward has been charged with Interfering with Reporting a Crime, Strangulation, and Possession of Marijuana.
Woodward's bond is set at $5,000.
