PCH scam targets senior citizens

Beware of scammers who call you on the phone claiming you won a prize from Publisher's Clearing House.

According to police, a group from Jamaica is using the name of the prize companies to dupe thousands of senior citizens out their life savings.

"He received a phone call from someone saying they were from Publisher's Clearing House," said Kim Nichols, the daughter of one victim. "They said he won a Mercedes, a nice car, and over a million dollars."

In another phone call, the alleged scammer demands money from a victim after she already paid $60,000.

Investigators said Publisher's Clearing House had nothing to do with an of this. And it does not notify winners over the phone.
