Penn-Harris-Madison presents tentative teachers' agreement
                        Penn-Harris-Madison                                                    MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- During a Special Board Meeting on Monday, Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation's Superintendent Dr. Heather Short and district administration presented their tentative teachers' agreement to the Board of School Trustees.
The tentative agreement, developed through a collaboration between P-H-M Administration and the P-H-M Teachers Association, includes a base salary increase of roughly 3.45 percent for teachers.
The starting annual salary for new teachers will increase from $48,370 to $50,000, whereas the maximum salary will increase from $84,204 to $86,777.
The salary increases will be retroactive to July 1 and will extend through June 30, 2026. The agreement will also include a two percent increase in stipends for teachers who coach or lead extracurricular activities, and a $250 base salary increase for teachers who have earned their Early Literacy Endorsement.
P-H-M's health insurance is also planned to transition from a two-tier to a four-tier medical plan through Anthem, its current carrier, join Anthem's HealthSync network, and increase employee contributions for medical premiums by three percent.
According to P-H-M, the School Board is expected to officially approve the agreement at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Nov. 10.
