Penn Harris Madison to end school year on May 20

Dr. Jerry Thacker, Superintendent of Penn Harris Madison Schools, provided an update on the district's plans through the end of the school year.

Penn Harris Madison students will continue eLearning until May 20, the last day of the school year.

Between May 21 and June 5 teachers will finalize student grades and may reach out to students.

Students will return to eLearning on April 15 and will continue until May 20 following the previously established weekly schedule. Students are off Mondays and participate in eLearning Tuesday - Friday.

If your student or your family is experiencing challenges with eLearning, you are asked to reach out to your child's teacher and principal so they can help work out a solution.

Because in-person school has been cancelled through the end of the year, there are spring activities that are cancelled. Your principal or teacher trip coordinator will reach out to you concerning trip refunds or rescheduling.

Updates regarding Penn High School's prom and graduation will come from Principal Sean Galiher.

For summer school, the district is working with elementary and middle school principals on a remediation plan.

For high school students, online remediation classes will be offered.

Students who were registered to take PE and Health at Penn over the summer will take the classes online.

Because of the pandemic and unknowns regarding when restrictions will be lifted, the district will not be offering r enrichment camps, athletics camps, Summer Kids Club and other summer activities.

Free meals will continue to be offered Monday - Friday at three locations.

  • Early Meals will be offered at Prairie Vista & Grissom from 8 – 9 a.m.
  • Midday Meals will be offered at Prairie Vista, Grissom & Penn High School from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Late Meals will be offered at Penn from 5 - 7 p.m. F

Families can pick up meals from any location and are available to any and All PHM students.
