Penn High School evacuated

One day before the start of the school year, a gas leak forced the evacuation of Penn High School.

Police say the leak was started by construction, but no one was hurt.

Today, the teachers were busy getting their classrooms ready.

They say the first day of school is always exciting.

Diane Bowersox, a chemistry teacher at the school said, “The first day is a lot of fun. It’s fun to greet the kids, see them come into the classroom. We do a little bit of the get to know you. What’d you do during the summer?  And then we start to we actually start with a lab."

Students will notice a difference when they head back to class tomorrow; over the summer the entire science department was remodeled.
