ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.--- People living along Like Drive in Elkhart are unhappy with repairs made to the road. Potholes on the road had been patched but no work has been done on the rest of the road.
"The road needed a lot of work, there were a lot of bad spots in it," said Sue Taylor, who lives on the street. "I just thought they were going to do the whole pavement and they didn’t do that. They only did along the edges."
The Elkhart County Highway Department released a statement on the matter saying "Lake Drive is a road in poor condition, and requires constant patching and maintenance of potholes. The work we completed on Lake Drive was essentially a more durable form of patching using hot mix asphalt, and is temporary until funds become available to pave the entire road. The patch work is a one time fix for the potholes to get through this fall and winter and will save tax dollars in materials and hours required for the alternative repetitive maintenance. We hope to pave it next year if funds are available."
Taylor says while she's grateful for the road getting attention she hopes the road can be fully repaired soon.
