"Pets for Patriots" waives adoption fees for active duty & veteran military members
MISHAWAKA -- The Humane Society of St. Joseph County launches "Pets for Patriots" to connect both active duty and veteran military members with a new furry friend by waiving adoption fees.
"By waiving the adoption fees, we're hoping that they can use those funds to establish that animal at a veterinarian or buy supplies and those sort of things, so that they don't have to worry about an additional cost, and hopefully too, they'll think about adopting a pet versus maybe buying one," explains Genny Brown, Executive Director for the Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
The Humane Society has several breeds of cats and dogs, all with their own unique personalities, available for adoption.
Fostering a cat or dog is also an option, and the Humane Society will cover the costs fostering entails (e.g., age-appropriate vaccines, flea treatment).
Anyone can visit the Humane Society to see the pets available, Mondays through Saturdays from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.
The Humane Society of St. Joseph County is at 2506 Grape Road in Mishawaka.
