PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- A Marshall County woman has been sentenced after being convicted of threatening a local judge over child custody rulings, prosecutors said Monday.

Sharlotte Ashley Preston, 35, of Plymouth, was found guilty Aug. 6 of Level 5 Felony Intimidation by a jury of 12 Marshall County residents, according to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

The case began in September 2024, when Culver police responded to a threat made on Preston’s Facebook account against Circuit Court Judge Jeanette Surrisi. Authorities said the post referenced violent repercussions Surrisi would face because of rulings in Preston’s custody proceedings.

On Aug. 29, Preston was sentenced in Marshall County Superior Court 3 to 90 days with the Indiana Department of Correction, 640 days in community corrections, and one year of probation.
