Police investigating reports of shots fired Thursday morning

La Porte Police are investigating reports of shots being fired and at least one home with damage in the area of Harrison and Clay streets.

La Porte Police say a resident was walking her dog around 2:30 a.m. Thursday when she saw a man standing at the intersection of Harrison and Clay streets.

he heard several gunshots and muzzle flashes coming from the area where the man was standing.

She ran inside her house and her boyfriend called 911. The woman who saw the man was unable to provide a description or direction of travel of the man she saw.

Police say they located eleven spent 9mm shell casings in the intersection of Harrison and Clay.

At the time, police were unable to locate any damage from the gunshots.

Around 10 a.m., police were called to a home in the 300 block of Harrison Street.

The residents told police they heard a noise around 2:30 a.m. and got up to investigate. They didn't find anything so they went back to bed.

In the morning, they discovered damaged drywall and paint fragments on their furniture. There was a hole in the main floor ceiling, but the bullet did not go into the bedroom above it.
