Police investigating serious crash in St. Joseph County involving large farm tractor
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Police Department was dispatched to New and Elm Roads for a serious crash involving a passenger car and a large farm tractor Monday evening.
Police were dispatched at 8:30 p.m.
According to Police, the vehicle, a passenger Subaru containing two males, was heading southbound on Elm Road and struck the corner of the tractor.
A passenger was not breathing but was revived with CPR and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The passenger was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Both the driver and the passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle. The driver was flown to Memorial Hospital via medi-flight.
The two men were in critical condition following the crash, but they are expected to recover from their injuries. Police say that there was lengthy extrication to get both men out of the passenger vehicle.
At the time of the crash, the driver of the tractor was heading from Fir road to a farm in Penn Township to perform normal agricultural work.
The tractor had on top lights, flasher lights and headlights.
The County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) is investigating the incident. It is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
A toxicology report is pending.
An investigation is ongoing.
