Police memorial services in Michiana

Multiple law enforcement agencies are holding memorial services for those killed in the line of duty.

Here are some of the events scheduled:

Friday May 13 - Bristol

Indiana State Police are holding their annual Indiana State Police Memorial Service on May 13 at 11 a.m.

The event will be at the Toll Road Post, 52422 CR 17, Bristol.

Friday, May 13 - Elkhart

There will be a National Peace Officers Memorial Day Service in Elkhart on Friday, May 13 at 12 p.m.

The event will be held at the Riverwalk Police Fire Memorial.

Friday, May 13 - St. Joseph, Michigan

The Blossomland Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #100 will hold the annual Police Officer Memorial Day program at noon on Friday, May 13th at the Berrien County Law Enforcement Memorial located at the south end of Lake Bluff Park in St. Joseph.

The Police Memorial Day service honors those who died on duty serving the residents of Berrien County. Our local service also remembers two former Berrien County residents who were killed in the line of duty.

This year’s speaker is 78th District Representative Dave Pagel from Berrien Springs, who serves in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Families of those who are being honored are encourage to attend as they will have an opportunity to participate in the service by laying a flower on the Memorial as their loved one’s name is called. Law Enforcement Departments of those who are remembered also participate in this service.

The Berrien County Law Enforcement Memorial was developed by all four Fraternal Order of Police Lodges in our County. Our local service also remembers two former Berrien County residents who were killed in the line of duty.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Monday, May 16 - La Porte

The La Porte County Sheriff's Office is holding a memorial service on May 16 at 6 p.m.

The annual police memorial service is open to the public, and is a joint effort between the La Porte County SD, and The Michigan City Police Department. The Indiana Attorney General will be the key note speaker.

The event will be at La Porte High School.

Wednesday, May 18 - Mishawaka

There will be a fallen officer memorial service on Wednesday, May 18 at the Mishawaka Police Department Memorial at 7 p.m.

The department is located at 200 N. Church Street in Mishawaka.
