Police vehicle struck at intersection while en route to call

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Police Department reports an officer was en route to a call on Wednesday with lights and sirens on when he was struck on the passenger side by a vehicle around 5:41 p.m. at the intersection of Grape and Douglas Roads.

Police say the officer was traveling north when he entered the intersection.

The crash caused a chain reaction involving several other vehicles.

The officer and two other drivers were taken to local hospitals for minor injuries.
