Portage Manor fundraising figures to be announced Wednesday, new Mishawaka park planned

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County District 2 Commissioner Derek Dieter announced this week that there will be a special press conference on Wednesday at 10 a.m. to reveal the revenue generated by all of the Portage Manor fundraising sales.

County officials have held three online fundraisers and one tag sale at Portage Manor.

Following the release of the numbers, Dieter plans to ask that $40,000 go to the City of Mishawaka Parks for their "Miracle Field" that will feature athletic fields for physically disabled adults and children.

Superintendent of Mishawka Parks Phil Blasko will be in attendance to help better explain their project. A short video on the "Miracle Field" can be viewed below.

"This is what the Commissioners will be asking the County Council to allocate the $40,000 in funds for from the sale of items at Portage Manor," said Executive Assistant to the Board of Commissioners Melissa Hasse.

Any remaining money is set to go into a fund for the cleaning and upkeeping of the property.

"Dieter is also asking Non for Profits-Day Cares, and other people in need to contact him via, email [email protected] or cell phone 574-532-2200, to set up a time to view remaining items at the Manor," said Hasse. "The Commissioners have decided to donate those items to the public. Clothing, furniture, and other items are available."
