Power restored to Elkhart residents

UPDATE: According to I & M, power has been restored to Elkhart due to mechanical fire.
ORIGINAL STORY: Indiana-Michigan Power says a small mechanical fire at an Elkhart substation area is to blame for thousands without power Thursday evening.
Crews responded to the substation in the 1,500 block of Hively Avenue around 4 p.m., when the fire began.
They hope to have power restored to over 3,300 people by 7 p.m.
Elkhart City Police say numerous traffic lights are out due to the outage.
INDOT will place stop signs at the following intersections:
State Road 19 (Nappanee Street) and Lusher Avenue
State Road 19 (Nappanee Street) and Hively Avenue
State Road 19 (Nappanee Street) and County Road 20 (Mishawaka Avenue)
