LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State Head Basketball Coach Tom Izzo was among several sports figures at Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Wednesday press conference urging the public to wear a face mask.
"I've been proud to live in this state for my entire life but I have been a little disappointed how some Michigander have handed some things lately," Izzo said.
Izzo was joined by coaches at rival schools, which he says that sign of unity despite any kind of contentious histories that may exist between all of them.
"The fight against Covid-19 is not for just Spartans, it’s not just for Wolverines,” Izzo said. “It’s for everybody to come together and that doesn't happen very often, we're all on the same page, we're rivals!"
Izzo also said that he was disappointed in the recent spike in cases and that people were not wearing a mask as often as they should have been, adding that we all must comply with state and federal guidelines if we want there to be college sports.
