Pulaski County sees one homicide out of 36 death investigations in 2024

PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- Over the weekend, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office released annual response statistics for 2024.
"As always, we appreciate your continued support. We are all in this community together," the PCSO said. "We rely heavily on citizen complainants to report suspicious or criminal activity."
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of eight deputy sheriffs whose primary responsibility is being available to respond to service calls for service.
According to the sheriff's office, these deputies complete the majority of the work centered around Law Enforcement in Pulaski County.
In 2024, the PCSO reports deputies logged 6,435 calls for service, and, of those calls, 1,976 were traffic stops and 503 were crashes.
"The Detective Division was assigned to having a direct involvement in 224 calls this year, the PCSO said. The PCSO is down to one canine team as of Jan. 1, 2025. In 2024 K-9 Tiko was attached in support of 178 calls for service. K-9 Bobby was attached in support 44 calls before his retirement."
The PCSO made 429 field arrests and engaged in seven vehicle pursuits in 2024. There were 25 counts of resisting arrest, and 5 counts of battery on an officer.
The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office teamed with the PCSO to cover 36 total death investigations this year:
- One Homicide
- One Boating Accident
- Four Suicides
- Four Motor Vehicle Accidents
- Seven Drug Overdoses
- 18 by Natural causes
Pulaski County Dispatch Logged the following statistics:
- 911 calls (3,643)
- Administrative calls (17,223)
- Animal Control (217)
- EMS (1589)
- Fire Department / 1st Responders (1110)
- Coroner (36)
- Emergency Management (9)
Pulaski County Corrections:
- Corrections daily population was 79 inmates.
- Pulaski County Justice Center generated $274,422.00 in 2024 holding Federal and Department of Corrections Inmates.
- Correction's Officers have completed over 1600 offender "book-ins" (new arrests and jail-to-jail transports from out of county. These offenders return for various warrants or transfers for court) into the justice center.
- There are 0 in-custody deaths, escapes, or juveniles booked into the facility.
- Correction’s staff had logged 175 transports. This includes transports for federal inmates, court proceedings, doctor appointments, county pick-ups, and IDOC runs.
"There is one supervisor assigned to oversee the patrol division filling the rank of Sergeant of Patrol," the PCSO said. "The Detective Division consists of two Detective-Sergeants specifically assigned to conduct follow up investigation, administrative search warrants, and evidence logging and accountability. The Chief Deputy and Sheriff oversee the Patrol Supervisor and Detective Division."
