Puppies found along side of Indiana highway

VALPARASIO, Ind. -- A Valparaiso woman made a startling discovery on the side of an Indiana highway.
She found 17 puppies that were dumped in Porter County.
They believe they are a shepherd, lab, rottweiler mix and are now calling animal control home.
The woman says she saw them run into the road and did not think twice about helping.
"The dogs were coming into his lane of traffic so in order to not hit them I moved over so I was parked on this side of the road then put my hazards on and called my husband," said Karen Read.
They are now looking for a forever home.
