NEW CARLISLE, Ind. – An overpass in New Carlisle is getting a makeover. The St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission approved railroad work on the bridge on Tuesday.
The bridge in its current state cannot handle the 286-thousand tons load limit.
Every bridge west of it is able to support that weight.
This project will also allow for a new railyard in New Carlisle.
The Chicago South Shore Railroad will assist St. Joseph County in paying for the improvements.
