ELKHART, Ind. -- US Representative Jackie Walorski, R-District 2, visited with Red Cross volunteers and residents staying in the shelter because of record flooding last week.

There are just a few people still in the shelter.

She wanted to meet with residents to get an update on the relief and recovery efforts and with volunteers to thank them for their efforts.

"And then we move again into the next phase which is how long will this take, how much damage was there, will it qualify for federal funding and that will go on for the next 30 days," Walorski said.

Governor Eric Holcomb will compile the assessments to determine whether the area qualifies for federal funding.
