Residents asked to conserve electricity

The grid operator for Indiana and Michigan Power is asking its customers to do their part to conserve electricity.

I and M said it is confident there will be enough power to serve all of its customers but they are calling for conservation ahead of possible record-breaking temperatures across several states.

"We at I and M are confident that we have sufficient power for our customers but we are a part of an organization that's worried about the increased demand today due to the very low temperatures," said I and M spokesman Tracy Warner.

That conservation request is in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
