Toll Road back open after day of winter weather chaos
UPDATE FOUR: All lanes of the Indiana Toll Road have been reopened at approximately 8 p.m. after a series of crashes closed down the interstate near mile marker 94 in Elkhart County.
UPDATE THREE: Several injuries have been reported with those injured being transported to a local hospital.
One semi-truck driver was entrapped for several hours but was freed from the wreckage and transported to the hospital as well.
It is believed that none of the injuries are life threatening.
A total of 30 vehicles were involved in the series of crashes.
UPDATE TWO: ISP says eastbound traffic is being diverted at exit 83 while westbound traffic is being diverted to exit 96 at C.R. 17.
Police say the cleanup will be lengthy.
East and westbound lanes remain closed.
UPDATE: The Indiana Department of Transportation reports a multi-vehicle crash occurred on the Indiana Toll Road at mile-marker 94 between S.R. 19 and Michiana Parkway near Elkhart.
ISP is currently responding, and all eastbound lanes are closed as of 4:24 p.m., Wednesday.
Emergency crews are on scene and traffic is being diverted at the Mishawaka Toll Plaza at Exit 83.
Drivers should expect delays.
