INDIANA – Blossoming trees and unbearable allergies are not the only thing springtime weather brings to Michiana; the warm weather also welcomes road construction.
There are a couple local routes residents should avoid taking to eliminate travelling delays, here are a few areas of current road construction:
Mishawaka
- Douglas Road between Fir Road and the railroad tracks
Construction is expected to run to April 20th.
Crews are working on a gas main in the area and this area will have lane restrictions.
South Bend
- Cleveland Road between Riverside Drive and State Road 933, Eastbound
Cleveland is down to one lane in both directions due to pavement replacement and bridge construction.
Crews said once construction is done Eastbound, Westbound construction will begin.
Starke County
- SR 8 between US 35 and SR 39, near Starke County Airport
The road is closed due to railroad crews working on the tracks structure and restoration of the highway surface.
Cass County
- M-62 from U.S. 12 in Edwardsburg to Hilton Street in Cassopolis
Crews will be repaving the roadway leaving a single lane open for travel. Construction is expected to wrap up mid May.
