Roundabout construction begins at S.R. 2, U.S. 6 May 31
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Crews will begin working on a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 6 and S.R. 2 on or after May 31, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced.
Construction will be broken up into three phases. The intersection will be partially closed during the first two.
Phase One
Phase one will extend through early August. During this phase, the north and west sections of the intersection will be closed.
U.S. 6 will be closed between S.R. 2 and Lowman Lane. The official detour will follow S.R. 2 and S.R. 49.
S.R. 2 will be closed between U.S. 6 and Main Street. This official detour will follow U.S. 421 and U.S. 6.
The intersection will stay open to traffic between S.R. 2 south of the intersection and U.S. 6 east of the intersection.
Phase Two
Phase two begins in early August and extends through October. During phase two, the south and east sections of the intersection will be closed.
S.R. 2 will be closed between U.S. 6 and Lowman Lane. The official detour will follow S.R. 49 and U.S. 6.
U.S. 6 will be closed between S.R. 2 and U.S. 421. The official detour will follow S.R. 2 and U.S. 421.
The intersection will be open to traffic between S.R. 2 north of the intersection and U.S. 6 west of the intersection.
The intersection will be open in all directions during the third phase of the construction.
