ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—On Wednesday, the Board of Trustees at Saint Mary’s College announced that Dr. Katie Conboy will become its 14th president.
Conboy is currently Provost and Senior Vice President at Simmons University, a private women’s college in Boston. She’s held this position since 2013.
The announcement was made at Spes Unica Hall on Wednesday during a ceremony with students, faculty, staff, trustees, the Sisters of the Holy Cross, and guests.
“Right now we’re living in a time where women’s education I think is going to see a resurgence. We’re living through the Me Too movement, we’re having a lot of understanding that the advancement that we thought we had made as women isn’t really as solid as we thought it was," Conboy said.
Conboy succeeds Dr. Nancy Nekvasil, who has served as the college’s interim president since 2018.
The college selected Conboy after a search committee interviewed several finalists for the position.
Conboy will begin her role as President on June 1, 2020.
