SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- For the seventh year, Salem’s Haunted House drew in all spooky season lovers.
This Halloween, the free South Bend neighborhood attraction has a little something for everyone.
The local scare spot started off around 5 p.m. and kept it kid friendly for the trick-or-treaters, giving them guided tours through the haunted house with no scare actors.
However, once the sun went down, the scares came out. With nine different themed rooms, and about 10 scare actors, spookiness was waiting around every corner.
Scare actor Angelyn Seward explained they do this for the community all for free because you can’t put a price on a good scare.
“It’s just the thrill of it, there’s no compensation, there’s no price on that memory, we do it just to make others enjoy it as well as we’d enjoy it,” Seward.
Not all the screams were in fear, some were in celebration as one couple got engaged! They walked through the haunted house and in the last room, he knelt down and popped the question and she said yes! Some pictures of the happy, spooky moment are posed below.
Halloween might be over, but the scares at Salem’s Haunted House will continue a little longer, being open Friday and Saturday from 7-11 p.m.
