Satanists to display "Snaketivity" at Michigan capitol

A new holiday display at Michigan's state capitol is creating a lot of controversy.

A Satanist group will display what they are calling a “Snaketivity,” featuring a snake wrapped around a satanic cross.

The group behind the display is saying it is not to spite another faith, but to display their own.

The Michigan State Capitol Commission says there is nothing they could do to halt the display from setting up the Snaketivity.

“The Constitution's First Amendment rights do protect free speech, so that would be allowed. Personally, I'm so opposed to this,” says John Truscott, a member of the Michigan State Capitol Commission.

The scene will be displayed from December 21st until the 23rd.

Each night, they plan to remove the display for fear of vandalism.
