
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department reports crews responded to a fire at the South Bend Motel at 3420 S Michigan St. around 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Crews arrived to find smoke and fire visible from the structure.
Residents evacuated on their own.
Fire officials say significant fires were found in three separate motel rooms before spreading into the attic.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
A few individuals were evaluated on scene, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents who were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
