South Bend, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 2000 block of Johnson Street that involved a minor. At approximately 10:40 p.m., police responded to the 2000 block of Johnson Street after receiving a report of shots fired. As officers arrived, they were informed that a young child was being taken to the hospital with an apparent gunshot wound.

The juvenile’s injuries do not appear life-threatening. As of 11:30 p.m., the scene remains active and will be taken over by the Violent Crimes Unit.
