Scarecrows pop up in downtown Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- Scarecrows began popping up in downtown Buchanan, and it's all for a good cause!  Check out these cool designs!



This is the fifth year for the annual scarecrow fundraising project.



A group of women known as the "Scarecrow Ladies" make the 100 or so scarecrows, and then put them up all over town!



All the money raised goes to the Buchanan Art Center!



Local businesses sponsor the scarecrows, which have gained popularity over the years!



"It's a lot of hard work, but when the people go by and they do the high fives and toot their horn, and say 'way to go', it's wonderful. When we see what it does for the community, it makes all the hard work worthwhile,” said Anne Marie Widmer of Buchanan.



This year, some of the designs include Snow White and The Seven Dwarves and boxing champion Mohammed Ali.
