School board won't change school start times for now

The South Bend School Corporation has tabled a proposal to change school start times.

The proposed start times would mean students would go to school later and would get out later.

School Board Member Bill Sniadecki said the council won't consider the change for at least another year for several reasons.

"There's just too many issues, bus transportation is one big issue. It's always a big problem at the beginning of the year with buses anyway. To try and pull this off without proper planning would be a disaster,” said Sniadecki.

Later start times would also affect after school activities and sports.
