A fire in South Bend leaves building ablaze
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Students of Marshall Traditional School were able to participate in interactive science experiments on Friday during the school’s annual Science Night event.
Volunteers from local universities and colleges set up 13 science experiment booths to engage with Marshall students in hopes of inspiring an interest in the STEM field.
“We live in such a great area that has access to so many local universities and colleges, and a lot of them have a great sense of volunteerism and community outreach. And so, we want our students to realize that these colleges are there. They’re accessible and we want them to kind of dream big and think of maybe 'I’ll be there someday',” Lianne Mink, PTO President at Marshall Traditional School.
Some of the volunteer groups at the event included the Society of Women Engineers, the American Chemical Society from St. Mary’s College and the Notre Dame Rocketry Team.
