Senate passes statewide smoking ban

INDIANAPOLIS -- The State of Indiana is one step closer to being smoke-free.

The Senate passed a statewide smoking ban on Wednesday, but there are several exemptions.

Some include bars, casinos, tobacco stores, and nursing homes.

The House passed a more restrictive bill last month. Now, lawmakers need to hammer it out.

St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties already have smoking bans in place.
