MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- It’s mid-winter formal season at Marian High School, and while some have no problem buying a dress, there are students who aren’t as fortunate.
One senior wants to make sure everyone has the chance to pick out a dress for the dance, and all for free.
Payton Molnar-Matz started collecting dresses with her health teacher, Allison Bailey. The idea is that any student can come and take a dress if they aren’t able to buy one.
Or, maybe you’re a senior who doesn’t want to buy another dress this year - you can trade an old dress in for one of the donated ones.
Some of the donated dresses still have the tags, and all dresses will also be dry-cleaned before they’re taken home.
Payton’s Closet is already filled with lots of long prom dresses - now they’re asking for shorter dresses to fit the mid-winter formal theme.
Payton plans to continue the project through the rest of the year for prom, and her teacher will take over when she graduates.
