ABC 57 ELKHART, Ind. -- Around 6:52 p.m. on Saturday, Elkhart County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a crash on County Road 23, just north of County Road 18.
Officers say a vehicle traveling north attempted to pass another vehicle by going into the southbound lanes, but lost control of the vehicle due to the icy road conditions and unsafe speeds. This caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into a tree on the west side of the road.
There were minor injuries at the scene, but no one was taken for medical attention. The driver of the vehicle was cited for, "Driving too Fast for Conditions".
