ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle crash on Sunday just after 12pm on County Road 20 east of County Road 111.

Police say a 2019 Jeep Cherokee was traveling southeast on C.R. 20 when the driver, identified as 70-year-old Dana Beth Knapp, drove off the south side of the roadway, crashing into a mailbox, and then continued southeast into a large tree in the front yard of a residence.

The vehicle flipped on its top, where it came to a rest facing southeast. Knapp was unconscious at the scene and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Police did not disclose what may have caused the crash.
