Softball team offers support to Chardon High School shooting survivors

CHARDON, Ohio. – Two high school teams in Ohio are coming together after a deadly shooting that claimed the life of three students.

Six weeks ago, a student opened fire at Chardon high School killing three people and injuring two others.

The Chardon softball team's rivals greeted them with a surprise before a match.

The team put together personalized boxes for each Chardon player, including letters with words of encouragement.

"We are extremely sorry about your tragedy hope you and everyone else is doing well.  Have a nice Easter and spring break," said Cazlea Morris.

"It just hit me. It’s real, said Chelsea Miller,” “It could happen to anybody, could happen to us.  I'm lucky to have my life and be healthy."

“One heartbeat” has been the community's motto, since the shooting.
